A reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest or indictment of the person who killed a community activist.

Crime Stoppers Mahoning Valley is offering a $5,000 reward for information into the shooting death of William "Shimmie" Miller.

He was found shot to death in a car at the intersection of Steel Street and Salt Springs Avenue on June 12, 2024.

Miller, 49, was a well-known anti-violence activist in Youngstown.

Miller had troubles with the law in the past but turned his life around and decided to work with the city as a mentor to teach youths how to avoid the path of violence.

He made it a point to change the mindsets of young people in the Valley in an effort to curb violence in the area.

Miller founded the Youngstown RESPECT basketball league in 2021, focusing on providing young men and women from 18-24 a safe place to play ball. The league will continue this summer.

If you have information on Miller's death, call Crime Stoppers at 330-746-2583.
