The South Avenue Bridge will be closed in Youngstown throughout the day on Sunday, June 23 for the city's Juneteenth fireworks display.

The closure will last from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. Sunday.

Residents are encouraged to come to Wean Park in downtown Youngstown to enjoy the display for themselves. Fireworks start around 9:30 p.m. and free parking is available at the Covelli Centre.

Those attending are encouraged to bring their own blankets and/or lawn chairs.

The fireworks display is just one of many events the City of Youngstown is holding for its weeklong Juneteenth celebration.

Other events include the Juneteenth Skate Day & Cabaret at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre, on Wednesday, June 19, the Art of Black Business panel at the Octave Live Music Cafe on Friday, June 21, Juneteenth Youth Day at Wean Park on Saturday, June 22 and the Soul Food Cookoff at Wean Park on Sunday, June 23.
