A heat advisory has been issued for the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys until 8:00 p.m. on Monday.

According to the advisory, residents will experience prolonged dangerously hot conditions with heat index values likely to be in excess of 100 degrees. The advisory is in effect between 11:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Monday.

The alert warns that responsive action should be taken, as the hot temperatures and high humidity could cause heat-related illnesses.

Residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room and stay our of the sun. Residents are also reminded to check up on their relatives and neighbors.
