Hundreds of drivers who use a shortcut between Boardman and Youngstown’s West Side will have to take a detour for a couple of days next week.
The Mahoning County Engineer has announced plans to close Sheban Drive between Sheilds Road and the entrance to Mill Creek Park on Monday, June 17, and Tuesday, June 18.
According to the latest count available from the Eastgate Council of Governments, more than 6,000 vehicles travel Sheban Drive each day.
The closing, which is needed to remove trees along Sheban, will only be during daylight working hours.
Sheban will remain open between the park entrance and Truesdale Road.
The county engineer suggests that drivers use Lockwood Blvd. between Sheilds and Truesdale as an alternate route.
