PennDOT driver license, photo centers to close for Juneteenth holiday
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that all driver license and photo centers, including its full-service center in Harrisburg, will be closed Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.
Juneteenth, officially Juneteenth National Independence Day, is celebrated annually to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States. The holiday's name stems from a blending of the words "June" and "nineteenth", as it was on June 19, 1865, when Major General Gordon Granger ordered the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas at the end of the American Civil War. In 2021, Juneteenth was officially recognized as a federal holiday in the United States when President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law.
Customers may still obtain a variety of driver and vehicle products and services, including all forms, publications and driver training manuals, online through PennDOT's Driver and Vehicle Services website, www.dmv.pa.gov.
Driver and vehicle online services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There are no additional fees for using online services.
