Youngstown City officials met with the property managers of International Towers, as well as representatives from numerous local social services on Wednesday to discuss relocation plans for tenants following an evacuation order.

During a press conference on Tuesday, city officials revealed that tenants of International Towers would have three days to evacuate the building due to safety concerns involving the recently-exploded Realty Tower building located near the property.

According to a press release, International Towers's property management team set a deadline for Friday, June 14 at noon to have everyone out of the building. In the meantime, the process is now underway to place these displaced tenants in temporary housing.

Once placement is confirmed for all tenants, both the Youngstown Police and Fire Departments will conduct a floor-by-floor unit safety and welfare check of the building.

"It is our goal to ensure that the core services and needs the residents rely on are not disrupted. To that end, providers have collected information from all residents and will continually deliver services to them throughout this temporary relocation," the release reads.

Within the past few days, residents have expressed frustration with the city in how this evacuation was being handled with residents not being notified by the city following the findings from a report from a structural engineer, which deemed Realty Tower as being in "imminent danger" of collapsing.

International Towers is in Realty Tower's collapse zone.

Other residents expressed concerns about those who have physical and mental challenges who have to take medications daily and others who have no family to stay with.
