Work is scheduled to begin Monday, June 10 on a major road rehabilitation project for State Route 39 from Salineville to Highlandtown.

This project will consist of the major rehabilitation of SR-39 stretching from Salineville to Steubenville Pike Road in Highlandtown. The existing concrete pavement will undergo a process called rubblization, where a specialized machine will crush the concrete and rebuild the base for new asphalt.

From there, a new asphalt layer will be placed on the roadway.

Construction will be done in three phases with each one lasting 60 days.

During the first phase, which starts Monday, SR-39 will be closed from from SR-164 to Steubenville Pike Road. The detour will be SR-164 north to SR-518 east to SR-45 south to SR-7 south back to SR-39 west and reverse.

In the second phase, SR-39 will be closed from East End Road in Salineville to SR-164. The detour will be SR-644 north to SR-518 east to to SR-164 south back to SR-39 and reverse.

Finally, during phase three, SR-39 will be closed from Steubenville Pike Road to Hammondsville. The detour will be SR-39 east to SR-7 north to SR-45 north to SR-518 west to SR-164 south back to SR-39 and reverse.

SR-39 will be closed to all non-local traffic. Residents, businesses and property owners will still have access to the roadway throughout this project. All non-local traffic must follow the detours.
