Mathews Local School Board to vote on whether or not to cut ties with Vienna police

In light of the ongoing financial woes and cuts in Vienna Township, the Mathews Local School Board will meet to decide the fate of its contract with township trustees and the Vienna Police Department.
The Board will be meeting Tuesday evening to vote on whether or not to terminate its contract with the Vienna Township Trustees and the police department.
Mathews Superintendent Russell McQuaide tells 21 News that this was not an easy decision to make, but the cutbacks in the police department and township as a whole makes it difficult to maintain services.
Should the board decide to cut ties with the police department, it will weigh its options including possibly relying on the Trumbull County Sheriff's Office for school security.
McQuaide says no matter what happens, he is grateful to the Vienna Township Police Department for its service to the school over the years and says its officers have done a great job in the district.
The meeting is Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
