Flames lit up the sky over Youngstown’s East Side overnight as a house went up in smoke.

A caller told dispatchers that a house on Kenneth Street near McGuffey Road was burning shortly before midnight Monday.

The fire spread throughout the vacant home on a list to be used by the fire department as a “fire demo house” to practice firefighting techniques.

Firefighters worked to keep the flames from jumping to tall grass on the property.

No one was injured. There’s no word on what caused the blaze.
