Former Warren officer adds attorneys to defense team, trial set for August
A final pretrial is scheduled for August 5.
The former Warren police officer who was fired after rape charges were filed against him added two attorneys to his defense team and had his trial date set for August 12.
Michael Edwards Jr. added Dave Betras and Frank Cassese to his legal team which also includes Dominic Vitantonio.
Edwards was originally booked into the Trumbull County Jail in January on rape and aggravated burglary charges. Since then, the case has expanded to include 24 counts including rape, gross sexual imposition and other alleged crimes.
He's pleaded not guilty to all charges against him.
A final pretrial is scheduled for August 5.
