Motions filed to suppress evidence in case of East Liverpool man accused of murdering wife
Two motions have been filed in the case of an East Liverpool man accused of murdering his wife back in December of 2023 asking for certain pieces of evidence to be suppressed.
According to court documents, attorneys for 34-year-old Christopher Morrison are asking for evidence found during a search warrant of a home on Shadyside Drive be thrown out because there was insufficient probable cause for the issuance of the warrant.
The documents claim that the the affidavit in support of the warrant alleged a "gobbledygook of evidence" not sufficient enough to support a finding of probable cause that any tracings of evidence related to a murder would be found there.
"Much of the affidavit is dedicated to the affiant's experience as a law enforcement officer, the agent's detective and experiences. In the remaining parts of the affidavit, [the detective] attempted to connect a homicide with the residence ... but provides no specific evidence," the document reads.
More specifically, the evidence in question relates to DNA swabs collected from the scene.
"Saliva is no different than any other seized property. The saliva sample taken from [Christopher] was an illegal seizure in violation of his fourth amendment rights," the document reads.
Christopher is accused of the murder of his wife, 34-year-old Tiffany Morrison.
Police said Tiffany was last seen on December 18, 2023 and her body was found in a shed at a home on Shadyside Avenue two days later.
Police also said that Christopher and his wife had been dealing with marital problems and Christopher confessed to a close friend of his that he had murdered his wife and hid her body in the shed.
Christopher is currently charged with aggravated murder and murder, both with three-year firearm specifications. He's also charged with two counts of tampering with evidence, one count of gross abuse of a corpse and one count of possessing criminal tools.
