More bridge replacement detours coming along Mercer County's I-376
Continuing work on a $5.1 million project to replace a Mercer County bridge damaged by a truck will mean detours for drivers later this month.
The eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 376 will be closed near the Route 318 bridge in Shenango Township, Mercer County beginning at 7:00 pm on June 14 to 5:00 a.m. on June 17.
Detours will be set up using the on and off-ramps on both sides of the bridge at Exit 1C (Route 318, West Middlesex). Drivers should anticipate slowdowns in that area and be alert for stopped traffic at the exits.
Flaggers will be posted on Route 318 near the bridge to minimize backups and stop traffic as needed.
The closure is needed to place beams for the new bridge to carry Route 318 over the highway. The new bridge will have seven steel beams, each 205 feet long.
The Route 318 bridge was damaged in early December when it was struck by a semi-tractor trailer.
