The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC) kicked off its Summer Discovery program Saturday morning at Boardman Park.

Summer Discovery is an annual program sponsored by PLYMC to encourage reading and literacy. The program runs from June 1st through July 31st. The program is free and open to all ages. Participants can earn points by reading, discovering something new, or visiting the library, and they can earn prizes all summer long and earn a book if they complete the program.

"Summer Discovery is a time where library users can participate in programs, enjoy the wide variety of materials available to them and engage in their community by earning points to win prizes," said Amy Bowers, Vice Chair of PLYMC Summer Discovery Committee. "The goal is for participants to Read, Visit and Discover all that the library has to offer over the summer in fun way."

Musician Tyler Guerrieri was also at the event, and provided music and entertainment for guests.
