Second suspect in deadly Warren arson to take plea deal following rejection
Just one day after rejecting a plea deal, the second suspect in the arson that claimed the life of a 16-year-old girl in Warren has decided to take the deal after all.
Assistant Trumbull County Prosecutor Chris Becker tells 21 News attorneys for 30-year-old Brendan Daviduk got him to sign the plea deal, where he'd plead guilty to charges stemming from the arson that claimed the life of 16-year-old Chassidy Broadstone in 2023.
A hearing has been set for Monday, June 3 at 11:00 a.m. for Judge Sean O'Brien to officialize the deal.
This comes just one day after Daviduk appeared in court to reject the plea deal, which would take the death penalty off the table. Prosecutors were recommending a sentence of 32 years to life in prison with this deal.
This would make Daviduk the second suspect to plead guilty in this case with the first being Zackary Gurd, who entered his guilty plea back in December. As a result, the death penalty was taken off the table for him as well.
Gurd has yet to be sentenced.
This would leave only one more suspect in the form of Patricia Zarlingo, who was supposed to go on trial back in April, but that was pushed back to July 23 due to attorneys needing more time to obtain and review documents pertaining to her.
