CORRECTION: Second person still alive after Mercer County crash, driver to face charges
EDITOR'S NOTE: A previous version of this story written based off of information from Mercer County District Attorney Peter Acker erroneously stated that a second person had died. We've since corrected this error.
One person is dead after a car crash in Mercer County.
It happened around 4 a.m. Sunday in South Pymatuning Township near the intersection of Saranac and Buckeye Drives.
Mercer County District Attorney Pete Acker told 21 News that a truck with three people inside took down a utility pole and power lines, cutting power to homes in the surrounding area.
One of the passengers was killed and another was taken to the hospital with significant injuries. According to the Pymatuning Township Police Department, the second passenger is still on life support in the hospital.
The driver is currently in the hospital as well, but Acker said they'll face charges once they're released including homicide by vehicle DUI among others.
Acker said the crash was one of the worst he's seen. It's believed that high speeds and alcohol were a factor.
South Pymatuning Township Police and State Police are investigating.
