Feeding America has released Map of the Meal Gap data revealing food insecurity has reached its highest level in 20 years.

According to a press release from the Mercer County Food Bank, 13.9% of Mercer County's population, which is equal to 15,410 people including 4,390 children are living with food insecurity.

That's a 2% increase for the overall population and a 4.5% increase for children compared to the data last shared in 2021.

So far this year, the Mercer County Food Bank has distributed 1.1 million pounds of food, which is a 16% increase to this time last year.
