VIDEO: Route 46 under Route 82 in Howland reopens ahead of schedule
There is one less bump in the road for people traveling through Howland, with part of an ongoing construction project finishing up ahead of schedule.
State Route 46 under State Route 82 at the Diverging Diamond Interchange reopened Wednesday, one day before ODOT's initial estimate. The road was closed for bridge removal.
Drivers are not completely in the clear, with several other restrictions and closures still in place.
According to ODOT, there are still active lane restrictions on SR 46 between Market Street and US 422, and on SR 82 between Elm and Howland Wilson Road.
The ramp from E. Market Street to SR 82 will remain closed through November 2024. A detour is posted, advising drivers to take E. Market to SR 46, then SR 46 to SR 82.
ODOT says it expects the Diverging Diamond Interchange project to finish in fall of 2026.
