The Youngstown Orthopaedic Surgery Center (OSC) has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for Ambulatory Health Care Accreditation.

According to a press release, the Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization's commitment to providing safe, quality patient care.

During an unannounced visit by The Joint Commission back in February, the organization evaluated compliance with Ambulatory Health Care standards like emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, medication management and rights and responsibilities of the individual.

Joint Commission Executive Vice President of Administration and Nursing Operations and Chief Nursing Officer Ken Grubbs says these standards are in place in order to inspire a higher quality of care that is more equitable and compassionate.

"Through collaborating on innovative solutions and evidence-based resources and tools, The Joint Commission helps drive improvement while maintaining accountability through our leading survey methods and standards. We commend OSC for its commitment to advance safety, quality, equity and compassion for all patients," Grubbs said.

OSC Chief Operating Officer Taylor Cera says OSC will continue its commitment to improving ambulatory health care quality in the Valley.
