Dollar General customers in Salem will now be able to find produce in their home store.

According to a press release, the recently-remodeled store at 1000 W State Street now offers produce in addition to the other products customers have come to expect from the store.

The store's produce set will be comparable to that of a traditional grocery store including fresh fruits and vegetables like tomatoes, onions, apples, strawberries, potatoes, lemons, limes and much more.

The produce section will cover approximately 80% of the produce categories most traditional grocery stores carry.

"Although we are not a grocery store, we believe the addition of produce in our Salem store highlights our commitment to deliver a pleasant shopping experience that includes affordable prices on quality products in a convenient location," said Dollar General Senior Vice President of Real Estate and Store Development Matthew Simonson.
