Another national retail chain has announced that it is reducing prices.

Just days after Aldi lowered prices on popular summer merchandise, Target announced on Monday that it is cutting prices on 5,000 items including, food, beverages, and household goods.

According to a news release from the retailer, prices have been cut on about 1,500 items, with more cuts planned to take effect over the summer.

The reduced prices include milk, meat, bread, soda, fresh fruit and vegetables, snacks, yogurt, peanut butter, coffee, diapers, paper towels, pet food, and others.

Claiming that the price reductions will collectively save consumers millions of dollars this summer, Target says it adjusts its prices to stay competitive.

Examples of price reductions already in place at many Target locations ahead of Memorial Day include Good & Gather Frozen Chicken Breast, Prime Hydration Ice Pop Sports Drinks, Johnsonville Cheddar Smoked Sausages, and Good & Gather Shredded Cheese.

Target says additional price reductions will be found across dozens of national brands consumers and Target-owned brands in departments such as food and beverage, household essentials, health, and beauty products.

New prices will be labeled with red tags.
