Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH) and hospice company Compassus have finalized a 50/50 joint venture partnership with Compassus taking over multiple hospice operations in the Mahoning Valley.

According to the Ohio Secretary of State's website, Compassus has filed for hospice locations throughout Ohio including five in the Mahoning Valley. On Compassus's website, three locations are listed including two in Girard and one in Poland.

We're currently working to find out the locations of the other two filings.

In a press release, Compassus COO Laura Templeton is quoted stating it and Mercy Health will support the continuity of care while providing patients and their families with options to receive hospice and home health at home or in residential care facilities.

"The BSMH System is an innovator and leader in care, which makes this joint venture an ideal partnership. As mission-aligned organizations, we are committed to upholding the high standards of care that BSMH patients are accustomed to and that Compassus is known for across the country," Templeton said.

According to the release, Compassus provides a continuum of home-based services including home health, infusion therapy, palliative and hospice care. Home health and hospice care will be administered as part of the partnership.

Meanwhile, Mercy Health will maintain ownership of its existing hospice house real estate assets while Compassus will manage operations in specific locations.
