Warren bar likely to permanently close following fatal shooting
After a fatal shooting at a Warren bar in the early hours of Monday morning, more city leaders are calling for the facility to close its doors.
20-year-old Nathaniel Bradley was shot and killed at Park Place 24 Tavern, along Parkman Road just before 2 a.m. Monday.
A Warren police report states the shooting followed an argument. Police identified a suspect as 26-year-old Zaa-Von Hameed of Warren (pictured below). Warren Municipal Court records show he is charged with murder, but has not been arrested yet as of Monday evening.
Bar owners met with city officials on Monday to discuss shutting the tavern down, stating that it is a known trouble spot in the area.
21 News was unable to reach owner Sheldon Brogdon, who is registered as the tavern's owner under the Ohio Secretary of State's website.
"You have a good family here that was running it and all but then you have outsiders that come in and just destroy what's there," said Councilman Ron White to 21 News. "And it seems like another establishment that we have in Warren is being shut down because of incidents that are happening that shouldn't be."
Councilman White told 21 News he always questions the reasoning for gun violence in his ward. "Why does this happen?" he said. "There's no need for this to be happening. But again, the mentality of people nowadays, it feels like we are losing it."
Councilman White does not have a say in whether to close down the bar, but he believes it is likely. "The City has tried to work with the owners but they can only do so much," White said. "Violence is in every community. But we need to learn to respect each other and stop turning around and killing each other. It shouldn't be right."
Police ask anyone with information about the case to call Detective Frank Tempesta at 330-841-2651.
