Monday court hearing set for Goshen dog breeder facing 32 criminal charges

A Monday court hearing is scheduled for a Goshen Township woman indicted on 32 counts of theft for allegedly taking payments for puppies that she never provided.
A 9 a.m. pre-trial is set in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court for April Waidman, a breeder of English Bulldogs and Dachshunds.
A 21 News Watchdog Report from March 7, 2024, detailed more than a dozen civil cases and a criminal investigation against Waidman after people from the Mahoning Valley to California accused her of taking their money but never delivering a dog.
A trial on the criminal charges is scheduled to begin on June 17.
Of the nine civil lawsuits filed in connection with the breeding operation since late last year, Waidman has been ordered to pay $5,400. Five of those cases seeking another $8,477 have yet to be decided by a judge.
Waidman is also scheduled to be in court in Sebring on Thursday for additional small claims cases against her totaling nearly $3,500 plus interest and costs and on June 3 in Boardman court for a small claims case against her for $800 plus interest and costs.
