High-speed chase on Ohio Turnpike ends with arrested in Mahoning County
A man is behind bars after leading Ohio State Highway Patrol officers on a high-speed chase that eventually ended in Mahoning County.
Daniyal Zaidi, 27, from New York City, was charged with failure to comply and receiving stolen property after attempting to evade police in a stolen vehicle.
The chase began around 10:48 a.m. in Summit County when officers attempted to pull over a Dodge Charger for a turn signal violation.
Before OSHP could turn their lights on to begin the stop, the car pulled away, reaching speeds more than 100 miles per hour, according to Mahoning County Dispatch.
Initially, the driver managed to evade police. However, he was picked back up in Mahoning County.
Officials used spike strips to stop the driver, who eventually pulled off the turnpike off Bailey Road.
The car was soon found parked behind a barn and the driver was arrested walking down the road.
He was taken back to Summit County Jail.
