McDonald woman settles sexual harassment suit against Mahoning County Sheriff's Deputy
Mahoning County has settled a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a McDonald woman against a Deputy Sheriff.
An order filed by U.S. District Judge Benita Pearson has dismissed the civil suit filed by Vanessa White alleging that Deputy Edward Maloney made inappropriate comments to her, made physical advances to her, and sexually assaulted her while he was supervising her while she performed community service ordered by a court.
White was ordered to perform community service after pleading guilty to a charge filed after Boardman Police arrested her in 2021 for theft from Walmart.
White said in her complaint that she was afraid of Maloney and told her probation officer and Maloney's wife about her allegations.
Attorneys for Deputy Maloney, the County Commissioners, and the Sheriff denied White’s allegations.
The case was submitted to mediation earlier this year and a settlement was reached in late March.
Court documents do not reveal the terms of the settlement.
