Austintown woman named Junior Director for the General Federation of Women's Clubs
A bank manager for the Austintown branch of Farmers National Bank has been named the next junior director for the General Federation of Women's Clubs Ohio.
Linda Jones was named the junior director at The Junior Women's League Gala & Installation Ceremony in Columbus. Her theme is "Empowering Change - Stronger Together," according to a news release from Farmer's National Bank.
Jones's special emphasis for Ohio is to help children in the Foster Care system by giving them comfort bags when they're being placed in or being removed from foster homes.
Bags include blanket, personal hygiene items, stuffed animals and snacks.
"Often times, these kids have nothing but their clothes. I want to make sure they're comforted in what can be a challenging time in their lives," Jones said.
In March, Jones was named in the GFWC Ohio Blue Book of Distinguished Women for her dedication to the organization's volunteer efforts.
Over the years, she has organized donations to the Canine Companion Service Dog program, collected food pantry items and planted trees at the Walnut Grove.
