While most will be spending time out on the lake or at the parks this summer, it's also not a bad time to jump into a good book.

The Friends of Girard Free Library is hosting a "Spring into Summer" reading part at the Girard Free Library's community room on May 9 at 6 p.m.

The party will include drinks, hot dogs, popcorn, cookies and cotton candy and a raffle will be held for reading prizes.

Tickets for the raffle will be $1 per ticket and the money raised will go toward replacing the carpet in the children's reading room, according to a news release from the library.

The event is free but reservations are required, which you can make here.
