Three injured in shooting on Youngstown's South Side, stray bullet strikes female victim in leg
The Youngstown Police Department confirmed two men and one woman, all in their twenties, were injured Tuesday evening in a shooting on Youngstown's South Side.
The shooting took place on the 3100 block of Idlewood Avenue around 9:00 p.m.
The woman told 21 News reporter Leslie Huff, that she was sitting in her bedroom with her children watching TV when a stray bullet flew into her window. The bullet struck her in the leg.
After visiting the hospital, the woman said a doctor told her they could not remove the bullet at that time. She said she has been unable to walk since last night.
Police said the shooting began after a vehicle pulled up next to group of people who were standing outside of a home.
The first gunshot was fired from the moving vehicle and shortly after that, gunfire was exchanged between different people in that area.
It is unclear if any of the victims participated in that exchange.
Shell casings were also found at the intersection of Idlewood and West Boston Avenues.
Officers marked the locations of shell casings with evidence markers.
As of Wednesday morning, police described the conditions of the victims as "stable."
Youngstown Police say no arrests have been made at this time, but their investigation is facing a roadblock due to lack of cooperation.
