Rep. Joyce to head Financial Services and General Government sub committee

U.S. Rep. Dave Joyce, who represents Ohio's 14th Congressional District, covering all of Trumbull County, has been named as the new chairman of the House Appropriations Committee's Financial Services and General Government subcommittee.
The powerful committee has jurisdiction over several governmental agencies like the IRS, federal courts and White House operations. It's responsible for providing oversight and approval over annual spending levels for these agencies.
Joyce's appointment was announced Friday, along with several other new appointments to subcommittees under the House Appropriations Committee.
“I’m proud to partner with such a skilled and seasoned group of subcommittee chairs," said House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole in a news release. "Working together, we will leverage their expertise and leadership to responsibly fund the needs of the American people. I look forward to engaging with them, the entire Committee, and all of Congress as we move through the Fiscal Year 2025 process.”
Before his appointment to the new subcommittee, Joyce was the chair of the Homeland Security subcommittee, which is responsible for preventing terrorism, securing borders, enforcing immigration law, safeguarding cyber systems.
He served on the committee as chairman for one year until this new appointment.
