Two suspects from the Cleveland area have been arrested in Trumbull County after a chase led police from Liberty Township all the way to Champion Township Thursday night.

According to a police report from Liberty Township, police were informed of a U-Haul truck reported as stolen from Cleveland in the area. Police were able to locate the truck and began the pursuit on Logan Way near Tibbett's Wick.

Police say the chase reached speeds between 70 and 80 miles per hour and took officers down State Route 82 westbound through a construction zone.

At this point, the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSP) got involved by deploying stop sticks with the truck stopping just before the Mahoning Avenue exit.

Police were then led on a foot pursuit with the suspects fleeing on foot and jumping a fence according to the report.

Police say the driver of the U-Haul truck was picked up by the driver of a Nissan SUV. Champion Police chased and stopped the SUV, but police say the suspects identified as 21-year-old Tramaine Davis and 26-year-old Larry Camp-Hatley refused to come out of the vehicle.

According to Liberty PD, Camp-Hatley was identified as the driver of the U-Haul and Davis was identified as the driver of the Nissan.

Police say Camp-Hatley is involved in an ATV and dirt bike theft ring and the U-Haul truck is used in the ring. Cuyahoga County court records show Camp-Hatley involved in one case involving the grand theft of a dirt bike from 2023.

Police went on to say Camp-Hatley has an extensive criminal history including one case from 2016 involving the murder of a police officer. However, Court records show all charges against Camp-Hatley were dismissed in that case.

His criminal history also revealed weapons offenses according to police. Liberty Police handled his arrest. Meanwhile, Champion Township Police handled Davis's arrest.

Camp-Hatley is charged with felony counts of failure to comply with order or signal of a police officer and receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest, and traffic offenses of driving under suspension and willful/wanton operation (willful operation of a vehicle with willful disregard for safety).

He was arraigned Friday morning and is due back in Girard Municipal Court April 17 for a pretrial.

Meanwhile, Davis is charged with two felony counts of failure to comply with order or signal of a police officer and obstructing official business and one misdemeanor count of driving without a license.

He was arraigned Friday morning and is due back in Warren Municipal Court on April 16.

Multiple agencies assisted in this pursuit including OSP, Bazetta Township PD, Vienna Township PD, Champion Township PD and the Trumbull County Sheriff's Office.
