Its a mixture of sorts for the Guardians on this opening day.

The good news, their finished 7-2 on the first road trip and the bad news Shane Bieber is done for the year and will have Tommy John surgery.

"We're having a lot fun and we're winning ball games and that's what we're trying to do," said infielder and former Scrappers Tyler Freeman.

"It's definitely a really good start and the offense is clicking and we've go some really good starting pitching , said Steven Kwan.

Cleveland has scored 53 runs but have only hit six homeruns.

"You don't need to hit homeruns to score," said pitcher Tanner Bibee. "When you string together hits that puts more pressure and stress on the pitcher."

Bieber who was 2-0 says he felt discomfort in his second start in Oakland.

"I ignored it a little bit, chalked it up to opening day soreness, cold but I knew it was an all or nothing situation. It's an injury that I'll get passed," he said.

Prior to the game the team witnessed the solar eclipse.

"It feels surreal and I was excited for it," said Kwan.

"It only happens so many years and its fun to watch," echoed Bibee.
