Warren farmer's market celebrates grand opening with ribbon-cutting

A new farmer's market in Warren is hoping to bring the community a taste of better weather, from April to October.

The Sunshine Golden Acres Farmer's Market is centered around its namesake line of hand-crafted soaps, skincare and bath products made from goat's milk.
Amy Phillips, the founder of Sunshine Golden Acres, says she began crafting soaps as a hobby and has continued to grow her business ever since.

"I started a farm with goats, I started making goat milk soaps, lotions, ice cream, butter, cheese, anything goat milk related," Phillips recalls. "We put it on Etsy and it just blew up."

Following Friday's grand opening, Phillips hopes to provide a variety of local vendors with more opportunities to connect with other businesses and the community. She also plans to continue her own retail partnerships with a number of Amish-owned businesses, some of which include goat milk from Phillips's goats in their products.

Reflecting back on the project's roots, Phillips says she's proud to have put in the work to convert an otherwise unused space into an attraction for the community.
"Before it was a vacant lot, it was semi-trucks, you know, it just looked bad. And now I'm freshening up the neighborhood and beautifying Warren," she notes.

Sunshine Golden Acres Farmer's Market is located on 3335 Mahoning Avenue NW in Warren. Their hours are from 10am to 5pm Thursdays through Saturdays, and 10am to 2pm on Sunday "Farmer Market days."

The first Farmer Market Day will take place on Sunday, April 7, featuring over 30 vendors and a live jazz band.
