Lawrence County bridge in Bessemer closing for replacement Monday
Motorists using the South Main Bridge over Hickory run in Bessemer may want to find a new route.
Replacement work on the bridge will begin Monday, April 1, according to a news release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).
During that time, the bridge will be completely closed beginning 7 a.m.
Work on the bridge is expected to be completed in late 2024, according to a news release from PennDOT.
Motorists should detour north of the bridge, take East Poland Road Westbound, then turn left onto State Line Road and take a left on Columbiana Road, follow that road back to South Main Street.
Those traveling south of the bridge should follow those directions in reverse.
Work on this $1.62 million project between Overlook Lane and East Poland Road intersections includes full replacement of the structure as well as approach roadway paving, drainage upgrades, and sign and pavement marking installation.
