Hubbard police asking for help to solve 2015 Cody Pitts murder case
Hubbard Police are seeking firearm information in an effort to solve an ongoing homicide that happened in the city.
The Hubbard Police Department is asking anyone within the community for help in solving the homicide of Cody Pitts that happened on March 7, 2015, in Hubbard.
Pitts' body was discovered on Orchard Avenue near North Main Street in Hubbard. The autopsy report indicates the cause of Pitts' death was a single gunshot wound. Pitts' death was ruled a homicide.
Police say Pitts left a bar and restaurant on North Main Street in Hubbard and was believed to be walking to a friend's house around 3:30 a.m. when someone shot him on Orchard Avenue.
According to the police media release, the department is seeking information regarding a Walther P-22 pistol with serial number L404221.
“It’s a gun that I believe may be possibly involved in this case so I just encourage people to check their firearms to see if they have this in their possession,” Michael Banic Detective and Sergeant at the Hubbard City Police said about this case.
Banic could not give details on how they made this discovery or how someone could be in possession of the gun without knowing.
No one has ever been charged in this case but police say they’ve never given up.
“Our community was devastated because of this act and this senseless death that occurred and it's been something we’ve never healed from,” Ben Kyle, the Mayor of Hubbard said. “I think it shows our commitment and our just unrelenting passion to solve this crime and to give closure not only to the family and his friend but the community as well.”

Anyone with additional information about the crime that they have never disclosed is also being asked to call Hubbard City Police.
"For the past nine years, we've diligently questioned many individuals and pursued numerous leads. Our current focus on understanding the specifics of this firearm is a testament to our unwavering commitment to leave no stone unturned," said City of Hubbard Police Chief Robert Thompson. "Our top priority has always been to utilize every resource available to solve this case and provide closure for both the family and the community."
