A three-way race for the Republican Senate nomination took center stage in Ohio's March 19 Primary Election.

And Bernie Moreno came away with the nomination.

The race for the GOP nomination was a focal point for not only Ohio but political analysts across the country.

Bernie Moreno, a Cleveland-area car dealership owner, was endorsed by former President Donald Trump in December 2023. The 57-year-old also collected endorsements from U.S. Senators J.D. Vance, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Representative Jim Jordan, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, Ohio Right to Life and Ohio Value Voters.

Moreno previously ran for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in 2021 to replace Rob Portman following his retirement. He withdrew from the race before the primary election.

Matt Dolan, a political veteran and current state senator from Cuyahoga County, drew support from several Republican leaders including Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and former Senator Rob Portman. Dolan also ran for the nomination in the 2022 Ohio Primary Election, coming in third place behind J.D. Vance and Josh Mandel.

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose is a military veteran and former Ohio State Senator for eight years. He was endorsed by Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10), Mahoning County Republican Party Chair Tom McCabe, State Representative Mike Loychik, Buckeye Firearms Association and Ohio Right to Life.
