Animal Charity of Ohio is caring for more than 20 dogs after a rescue at a home in Campbell.

The rescue happened at a home on Van Buren Avenue.

Humane agents found 22 dogs at the home and they are all said to be in bad shape.

According to Animal Charity of Ohio, the dogs are suffering from severe flea infestation, open wounds, untreated infections, emaciation and severe dehydration.

All of the dogs will need surgeries of varying degrees and vaccinations, preventatives, spay and neuters and dental surgeries.

The Campbell Police Department, Mahoning County Sheriff's Office and Mahoning County Dog Warden were also on scene.

Animal Charity says they need donations for medical care and items for the shelter, including blankets, soft treats and canned food with gravy.

Items bought locally or shipped through websites can be sent to 4140 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio 44512. Items can also be dropped off at the Market Street or Canfield locations under the covered porches.
