PSP: Body found in median appears to have been struck and killed days ago; spotted by relatives
On Tuesday night, Pennsylvania State Police learned that 37-year-old Devin Habib of New Castle was dead on I-80 Westbound in Shenango Township.
Police say Habib was hit and killed by a semi truck while walking on the highway in the early hours of March 9th.
Habib had been lying in the median of the highway for four days until members of his family went searching for him.
Habib's brother, Joshua Habib tells 21 News that around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, a woman dropped Habib off on the side of the highway and threw his clothes out of her car.
Sometime after leaving the woman's car, a Freightliner Cascadia struck the young father of four. Joshua says after trying to contact his brother for days, they went searching around the highway to see if they could find a clue on his whereabouts.
According to Joshua, the family knew where to search because the woman driving Habib told the family where she tossed his belongings.
During their search they located his clothing on the side of the highway and then found Devin's body in the median before calling the authorities.
The investigation shut down several miles of the highway Tuesday evening, closing lanes between Exit 4B near Route 760 and Route 18 near Sharon and Hermitage to the Ohio state line.
Police say they are currently looking to see the if there is any camera footage of the crash. They are also searching for the semi truck along with its driver.
Habib leaves behind four kids, his parents and brother.
