The owner of a logging company in Trumbull County has learned his fate after cutting down a tree on someone else's property.

William Spithaler, who owns a logging company in Gustavus Township was sentenced to five years of community control and must pay $35,000 in restitution.

Spithaler was charged with grand theft, breaking and entering and vandalism. He pled guilty to these charges back in January.

The charges stem from Spithaler cutting down trees and taking the lumber from property that did not belong to him. According to the Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office, the amount of lumber involved was valued at over $35,000.

Spithaler could have faced a maximum of three years in prison.
