Youngstown mom charged with death of 7-year-old free on bond
The mother of a 7-year-old boy who died after being shot in Youngstown last year is free on bond awaiting trial set for May.
Thirty-year-old Marquaysha Driver of Marmion Avenue appeared in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday to answer charges handed up in an indictment charging her with involuntary manslaughter, and four counts of child endangering.
According to the indictment, Driver caused the death of Devonte Housely Junior on the morning of October 22, 2023.
Officers began life-saving measures when they arrived at Driver’s home around 8 a.m.
The boy was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
At the time Youngstown police initially said they believed the shooting was accidental.
Another court hearing for Driver is scheduled on April 16.
