A Warren man accused of raping a 12-year-old girl entered into a plea deal on Monday, March 4, rather than stand trial.

Jeremy Cox, 45, of Warren, pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree rape and one count gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony, and was sentenced to a life prison term with his first chance at parole coming after he serves 10 years. Cox was charged with forced sexual intercourse with a girl who was 12 years old in the fall of 2019.

This decision also marks him as a Tier 3 sexual offender, which means he will have to register his address with the sheriff's office every 90 days for the rest of his life.

Cox appeared before Judge Cynthia Rice, who oversaw the decision.
