Drivers with a recent Toyota car model may want to check twice before getting in their vehicle.

Toyota has issued a recall for more than 380,000 Toyota Tacomas from 2022 and 2023 due to welding debris left on the ends of its rear axle assembly during manufacturing.

The company says this defect could cause certain retaining nuts to loosen over time and eventually fall off, potentially causing a part to separate from the axle.

If separation occurs, this can impact the vehicle's stability and brake performance, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will inspect the rear axle assembly and retighten the axle retaining nuts at no cost to the customers. If the components are damaged as a result of this condition, they will be repaired or replaced based on inspection criteria.

Customers will be notified about this issue through the mail by late April 2024.
