Suspect identified in Bazetta Township road rage incident
State Troopers, Sheriff's Deputies, and Bazetta Township Police are investigating what police say was a road rage that ended with one person being shot.
Dispatchers were called around 3:00 a.m. and were told that a pickup truck drove away after allegedly rear-ending a car at East Market Street and Henn Hyde Road in Howland.
After the driver of the car followed the truck to a home on McCleary Jacoby Road in Bazetta Township, a passenger got out of the car.
That’s when the pickup truck driver, identified as 41-year-old Brett Budd allegedly pulled out a gun.
Police say a female was treated for a gunshot wound to the hand. She has since been released from the hospital. According to a press release, her injuries were not life-threatening.
Budd (pictured above) was booked into the Trumbull County Jail on charges of felonious assault, and using weapons while intoxicated. Police say this appeared to be an isolated incident between the two parties.
Bond has been set a $45,000 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, February 28 at 9:00 a.m. in the Trumbull County Central District Court.
