Crash closes part of South Range Road, power out to hundreds

State Troopers and other first responders were called to a traffic accident that cut power to hundreds and shut down part of State Route 165 in Green Township Tuesday morning.

The crash, involving a truck, happened before 9 a.m. west of Lisbon Road. Route 165 is also known as South Range Road.

Early reports indicated that FirstEnergy equipment was damaged in the crash.

As of 9:10 a.m., the FirstEnergy website showed more than 1,700 outages in Mahoning and Columbiana Counties, with most of those in Green Township.

FirstEnergy estimated that power would be restored by 11:30 a.m.

According to the Ohio Department of Transportation, Route 165 was closed in both directions near Virginia Avenue. Drivers were advised to avoid the area.

Troopers believe the road could be closed until 3 p.m.

There's no word yet on if anyone was injured in the crash.
