Just one day after a Mercer County VFW post burned down, the local community is coming together in various ways to support it.
According to a Facebook post shared by the Reynolds VFW post in Greenville, students at Reynolds Junior/Senior High School are making t-shirts in support of the post with all profits going towards the post's rebuilding.
Prices for the t-shirts are as follows:
- $10 for short sleeve
- $15 for long sleeve
- $25 for crew sweatshirt
- $25 for hoodies
You can text 724-877-4411 to order a shirt for yourself.
This isn't the only support the post is getting though. According to a Facebook post from Premier Water Solutions, 25% of the bill for all water treatment, pressure tank and drinking system purchased will go towards the post.
Additionally, a band that was scheduled to play at the post prior to the fire will still be playing at the post but with a twist.
Originally, the local band Government Cheese was set to play a regular paid gig at the post. Now, they're playing for free and guests have the option to donate money to the post.
If you're looking for other ways to support the post, a GoFundMe has been started by post Quartermaster Johnny Chapman where donations for the post will be collected.
Chapman says the support he's gotten so far has been "overwhelming" and that for years he's been been giving back to the community in any way he could and now the community is returning the favor.
As for updates, Chapman says he's still waiting to hear from the insurance adjustor on the damages.
In the meantime, the post will continue to operate in the Mickey McKnight Pavilion.
