Police identify victim in homicide on Youngstown's north side
Police have released the identity of a man who died in an early morning homicide at a business on Youngstown’s Northside.
Police identified the victim as 26-year-old Tyrone Chatman.
Dispatchers received a call about gunfire at the Logan Gas Mart just after 4 a.m. Tuesday for a car that had crashed into a fence followed by a call for gunfire at the same location.
Police at the scene tell 21 News that the driver of a car was shot several times before the car crashed into a fence. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
An ambulance was sent to the scene on Logan Avenue near Saranac Avenue and crime scene tape was placed around the gas station.
Officers collected seven spent shell casings at the scene as evidence.
Police say there were numerous people inside and outside the gas station during and after the incident. Anyone who knows anything is asked to come forward with information.
