Youngstown man found guilty of rape of 4-year-old
A Mahoning County jury found 58-year-old Todd Perkins guilty of rape and gross sexual imposition for sexually abusing then 4-year-old girl in 2015 and 2016.
Perkins was indicted on May 9, 2019, by the Mahoning County Grand Jury, and in May of 2021, Perkins initially pled no contest to two counts of rape and was sentenced to fifteen years in prison by Judge Sweeney.
An appeals court returned the case, ruling that the court should have granted Perkins’ request for separate trials regarding his two child victims, one of whom was the 4-year-old victim.
“What happened to this young girl is truly horrendous,” said Prosecutor Gina DeGenova in a written media release. “I commend her tremendous resilience and bravery. It is very gratifying to see the jury hold Todd Perkins accountable for sexually abusing his young daughter. This 11-year old girl has waited so many years for justice. Today, she finally got it.”
