Owners of a home in Canfield are now staying in a hotel after an SUV crashed into the side of their house Tuesday evening, just after 5 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle was driving down State Route 62 when she had a medical emergency, losing control of her car and plowing into the home located along Leffingwell Road. She had two children in the car and all three were transported to a hospital. Their condition is unknown.

Police on the scene said the car narrowly missed a large tree on the property that could have been deadly for all passengers.

One of the homeowners was home at the time when the car crashed into a bedroom. The homeowner was in the kitchen with her two dogs at the time.

Family told 21 News it will take up to nine months before they'll be able to move back in. Homeowners told 21 News another accident happened just a few weeks ago involving this bend near the home.

They have even reached out to ODOT to put a guardrail along the curve for several years. They hope accidents like these sound the alarm for the state to take action.
