Man accused of murdering Warren mother of four to claim 'self defense'
The attorney representing a man accused of murdering a nurse and mother of four from Warren plans to file a self-defense motion on behalf of his client. according to the prosecutor's office.
Noel Flores, who turns 20 later this month, faces a March 18 trial on charges that include murder and improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation.
Flores is the suspect in the November murder of 26-year-old Ashantae Kirksey at her Francis Avenue home. Police say Flores committed the crime while on probation, after serving jail time for an aggravated menacing incident in Niles. He had been released from jail just one week before Kirksey's murder.
Until the motion is filed, it is not known what self-defense claim will be based upon.
One month after the murder, Flores was arrested in St. Petersburg, Florida. Police say he was captured with a handgun that is the same caliber as the weapon used to kill Kirksey.
