Youngstown Police have just arrested a suspect in connection to a homicide on the city's South Side last week.

Police arrested 21-year-old Jules Freeman on Wednesday, January 31. Freeman is charged with complicity to murder.

The charge stems from a shooting that occurred at the corner of Evergreen and Erie Avenues on Youngstown's South Side where 23-year-old Allen May was shot and killed. Allen is the brother of Persayus Davis May, who was murdered in 2021.

Her case has still not been solved. Police had previously confirmed with 21 News that this homicide had no connection with this case.

This arrest came after a search warrant was conducted in New Philadelphia, Ohio. After considering the evidence collected at the scene, a warrant was issued for Freeman's arrest.

Police say Freeman and his attorney answered to the charge in court and he was booked in the Mahoning County Jail thereafter.

At this point no information on a motive is being released and it's unclear if there are any more suspects involved.
