What began as an effort by Warren Police to pull over a car driving recklessly, ended with a chase, fiery crash, and two arrests.

An officer reports that a car sped away late Wednesday when he tried to pull it over for weaving along Youngstown Road.

The officer lost sight of the car, which was spotted later by other officers on Hazelwood Avenue.

The car drove away again through side streets, only to crash into a utility pole along a curve on Francis Avenue SE.

The driver and passenger managed to jump out of the car, even though power lines had fallen on it, and it was catching fire.

After a foot chase, police captured the two suspects a few homes north of the crash.

Nineteen-year-old Kalebh Brady of Youngstown is charged with hit-skip, failure to comply with a police order, driving without a license, and failing to maintain control of a vehicle.

Timmon Wade, 31, of Warren is charged with felonious assault, criminal damaging, and disorderly conduct.

Both men pleaded “not guilty” to the charges during their arraignments on Thursday.

Wade’s bail was set at $100,000.
